"I am so exited!!! I am so happy with this opportunity, where I hope to learn from other people and other cultures. I hope that yip will help me to develop myself intellectually and in an artistic way. I hope to find out how to bring art and knowledge together and with that help other people in their development. I can't wait to meet you all!"
– Christianne Sinoo (19), The Netherlands, YIP 2008–2009

"In ten years time i hope to have begun my dream, that i will wake up in a community where when i walk around i see houses that our own hands have built, gardens we nourish ourselves with, animals and so many wonderful ambitious people who i am  hand in hand with, creating a sustainable, open and holistic environment. together with these people i aspire to tackle issues that are vital in such a rapidly developing world, in ten years time i hope that the work we have done in this community has truly helped hundreds."
– Annastasia Palmer (20), Ireland, YIP 2008-2009

"During the last few years I was several times involved in organizing an initiative or a project (youth conferences, work camps etc.). And I realized that I never really learned how to do those things and always just did them somehow, unconsciously without a lot of confidence in my own work. So I hope that YIP will give me those skills and experiences I need in order to really know how to realize an initiative.
The whole idea of YIP and what will develop from this year of intense work, the network of these 60 youth - all this and the will to live actively in this world is my motivation to be a participant of YIP."
– Christina Gerodetti (21), Switzerland, YIP 2008-2009

"I feel that there are many problems in today's world, problems far worse than ever before that need to be dealt with and fixed:  Social injustice, violence and harm toward humans and animals alike, destruction of natural resources, the list goes on and on. People need to communicate and come together to solve these problems. There is no way humanity can keep on going the way it is without serious consequences that could affect us and our earth once and for all. What inspires me to participate in YIP is to learn practical and helpful skills from and with a group of adults and youth, skills that I believe I will be able to use the rest of my life to lend my support in solving some of the problems my generation will have to face. Overall, I feel it will help me learn to work together with others in making the world we all share a better place to live in."
– Yarrow Corymb (18), USA, YIP 2008-2009

"I'm interested in being surrounded by people who have the same passions as I do in an atmosphere that is in tune with who I am as an individual.  I am excited to expand my knowledge on a global scale and to have the opportunity to do that with so many brilliant intellectuals from all over.  I’m also interested in honing certain personal skills like, writing, both creative and general, and public speaking.  The internships are also an exciting aspect of the YIP, that I feel will be extremely beneficial."
– Silas Beardslee (20), USA, YIP 2008–2009

"I like the wide spectrum of the themes and in particular the projects that deal with theatre, music, and art in education, because I believe this to be a wonderful way to develop more fully the potential in children with whom I hope to work in the future."
– Emma Sophia Bassner (21), Germany, YIP 2008–2009

In fact I feel so sorry about youth here, in my hometown, because I know that they
have a lot of things to give, they have a lot of abilities which they can use for them and for the society, but in the same time they don’t have the place, the courage, the will to use this abilities, because they raised like this. So after I heard about yip and about what can I get or learn there, I just found out that this is the perfect place for me, where I can build my personality more and more to start an initiative through which I can bring a change for my hometown and for me as well.
– Firas Khatib (21), Israel (Arab Village), YIP 2008–2009

"Whether we like it or not young people today do in fact, carry a heavy responsibility - the responsibility for those areas in Society and in our environment in which past generations have been criminally negligent. YIP is a program which addresses this responsibility directly and offers hands-on guidance in how to carry it."
