Where are the YIP-ies?

By: Mathias Bolt Lesniak

The YIP particpants have gone on their international internships, to help existing initiatives. But where have they gone to?

There are YIP participants at internships in Brazil, India, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Nepal, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, USA and Zimbabwe

There are now YIP participants on international internships in these countries:

  • Brazil
  • India
  • Italy
  • Kenya
  • Lebanon
  • Nepal
  • South Africa
  • Switzerland
  • Tanzania
  • USA
  • Zimbabwe

From Tanzania, Emmi writes: "I have arrived here and everything is good. We started the work last Monday, and it is really hot. On the first day we went to the beach, so everyone got sunburned already there. Now recovered from the sunburns, I only have sore muscles."

Important experiences

In addition to helping the initiatives, the intention of the internships is to give the YIP participants a way to try out what they have learnt through the year. They will have to deal with questions like these:

  • How do you cooperate with others under different conditions to what they are used to?
  • How do you deal with lingual and cultural barriers?
  • How do I lead a group, and how do I help create a good working environment?
  • How would I have done this differently?

Gone home

Some of the organizers is using this time without the participants to take a well deserved easter holiday, going to Australia, Turkey and the USA. Some are also holidaying in Sweden. Others are working.
