Playground for Change
By: Phoebe Phillips (Australia), YIP 2009 – 2010
Four YIP-ies have a project: We will facilitate the building of a playground, but we need to fundraise for our materials.
Six months into my studies at The Youth Initiative Program in snowy Stockholm, Sweden. Through our course Anna (Belgium), Dominique (New Zealand), Ana (Brazil) and myself (Australia) have designed "Playground for Change" a project we will initiate at a school in the rural village of Kisui in Kenya in April.
Alongside the children and teachers of Mina Academy, the local community and four international volunteers we will facilitate the building of a playground. We hope that the children will be able to have a space where they can explore being playful and imaginative in a stimulating and safe environment.
We are collecting tools to take along (there is nothing at the school), but we need to fundraise for our materials. We chose to work together with a Dutch organisation (1%Club), who make it possible to recieve donations online.
Our project is called: Playground for change
There are two ways you can help us with this
- Become a member and give us a rating (stars).
- Donate a small amount.
