"I couldn´t have done SEE! COLOUR! without YIP and the YIP Alumni”

– Rembert Biemond: YIP’s help was one of the very key things that came my way. I could’t have done it without them.

SEE! COLOUR! turned out to be a big project for Ytterjärna. It was not planned that way. It just happened. We managed to build a couple of new buildings (SkyspaceGym for ÖrjanskolanEntreepavilion), updated some others (LibraryOrmen Långe) and build large installations into existing rooms (KulturhusetNibble Farm and other places) Then hosted some 14000 visitors coming to learn and experiencing colour in all its aspects.

Alumni from YIP1 were among the very first to become co-workers of the project. Thank you Christina! Thank you Tania! Thank you Henning! Others from YIP2 followed, like Pieter as web-manager, Jonas as volunteer-coordinator, Zuhayra, & many more. The first public lecture about the project was for YIP3 – at that early stage we didn’t even know that we were going to collaborate with James Turrell – and then YIP3 followed the whole development during their year. And they got involved. At key moments, like when we had to clean out a big building site just days before the opening, YIP was there to help – not to forget their singing at the Opening Day. To be honest; that day, May 14 2011, was a day not to forget and will always be one of the top days in my life. Now some people of YIP3 have taken up jobs as volunteer coordinators like Elida and Daniel. Some YIP4 students came early and volunteered. And now YIP 4 will help with the last leg….

I had the privilege to be one of the people speaking at the official opening of YIP4, where I quoted a scottish mountaineer:

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence – destiny – moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

This sentence is true for any good initiative. And yes, it was very very true for SEE! COLOUR! I could not have imagined everything that came my and our way once we had committed ourselves. YIP’s help was one of the very key things that came my way. I could’t have done it without them.
