Pieter Jacobus Daniël Ploeg was born in Hilversum the Netherlands. He grew up in Hilversum, Haarlem & Amsterdam as the oldest of 5 children. Pieter graduated at the Rudolf Steinerschool in Haarlem in 2003 and the Amsterdam School of Arts in 2009. He then worked as a lighting technician for Toneelgroep Amsterdam, a large theatre company.

Besides his studies and work as a lighting technician he always volunteered in youth projects like camps, conferences and workshops. He has been organizing the International Youth Camp for 5 years, co-founded a youth network organization in the Netherlands and organized youth conferences and events.

In 2009/2010 he attended the International Youth Initiative Program. As his individual project he launched his own social business pietradelmundo in 2010. In this company Pieter offers his gifts in both the transaction and gift economy to support social innovation and sustainability. Some of the projects he co-founded or was involved in are a Learning Journey, World as a Garden, Representing Youth, HUB Summerschool,  SEE! COLOUR!, Art of Hosting trainings in Järna, Vancouver & Karlskrona, 2012 Global Game and Bubblebee. Since August 2011 he is working full-time for YIP.
