YIP happens in cooperation with Vårdinge Folk High School, and all participants will receive a Folk High School Diploma upon completion of the year.

A Folk High School does not grant any academic degree, though a year at a Folk High School often gives additional points or an easier way into many universities.

The Folk High School concept was originally inspired by the Danish writer, poet, philosopher and pastor N. F. S. Grundtvig (1783–1872). Folk High Schools are common mainly in the Nordic countries and Germany, but similar schools also exist in other countries.

The Portfolio method will be used to show and prove any competence developed. It will include both formal (e.g. projects, courses, training's and certificates, diplomas) and informal (e.g. important life events, meetings, talents) learning processes.

These learning experiences are assigned to fields of competence and formulated as professional, methodical, personal and social competences.

Next to having a document showing all activities and competences, the process of keeping track of the development throughout the program allows for regular reflexion and evaluation.
